Horace Ransom Bigelow diary, 1853-1893.

Included are detailed descriptions (1853-1854) of Bigelow's journey from New York to Minnesota, of the upper Mississippi River and towns along it, and of his life as a law partner of Charles E. Flandrau in early St. Paul, including descriptions of the city, saw and grist mills, climate, traders, immigrants, railroads, and political activities. Also present are personal financial accounts (1863-1893) and genealogical data on the Bigelow, Otis, and Bartlett families.
